With the Houston Texans’ schedule officially being released yesterday, fans are finding that the start of the season can’t come any sooner. Along with the official schedule release, the team also shared when the new H-Town and Battle Red jerseys will be debuted this season. After the previous couple of seasons, the attention that the Texans are receiving feels like Christmas for many fans. Super Bowl contention feels like it could be a reality for the Texans this year. The release of the schedule and the jersey debuts takes us one step closer towards being in the season, something that I think many can agree we all miss dearly.

New Season schedule released by the Texans

New Schedule Thoughts and Jersey Debuts

As seen in the Tweet above, the Texans have six primetime games, ranging from SNF to games held on different holidays, such as Christmas and Halloween. This is a dramatic increase from only one primetime game last year, in which the Texans defeated the Colts in Week 18 of the regular season. The game I am most excited for is definitely the Christmas game against the Ravens. The only bad part about the game is that you will need a Netflix subscription to watch this game because Netflix bought the rights to streaming NFL Christmas Day games for $250 million. The reason this game brings me so much enthusiasm is because it is obviously a rematch from the 2024 Divisional Playoff round. Between the new roster the Texans have now and the semi-dismantled defense that the Ravens have obtained, I expect that this game should be very competitive and fun for everyone watching. The Texans media also announced that they will be debuting the H-Town city jerseys against the Buffalo Bills Week 5, and that they will debut the candy paint red uniforms Week 10 against the Lions.

Predictions for Each Game

Keeping each week brief, I will display which games I think the Texans will win and lose throughout the season. As the games come closer, I will go deeper into detail about injuries and different factors that may influence my conclusion to how each team will perform. Also, I will only be analyzing 4 weeks at a time to make sure I can produce enough content before training camp starts back up.

Week 1: Texans @ Colts

With a new rivalry beginning to spur between the Texans and the Colts, the season opener should be a close matchup between the two young, scrappy teams. With the return of quarterback Anthony Richardson from his season ending injury last season, we will hopefully be able to see a full game between C.J. Stroud and Richardson, two of the top quarterbacks taken in the 2023 NFL Draft. This will be the start of a long rivalry to come between the AFC South rival teams. Overall, though, I have the Texans winning this one, as they are better matched-up to go against the Colts strong run game with Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson Jr. at the helm.

Week 2: Texans vs Bears

The first primetime game for the Texans will be against the Bears and first overall pick rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. The offense of the Bears is highlighted by their stud receiver core of DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, and Keenan Allen. The main question between who wins this matchup and how the season will go overall for the Bears is how good Caleb Williams actually is. Early in the season, however, I feel that Williams will still be getting his feet wet in the NFL and that will lead to the Texans winning this matchup overall.

Week 3: Texans @ Vikings

Similar to the Bears game, this matchup will depend on the play of the Vikings’ quarterbacks: rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy and veteran Sam Darnold. Which ever direction the Bears go in deciding who their starting quarterback will be, I still believe that the combination of C.J. Stroud and the Texans receiver core will be too much for the Vikings defense to handle, so I have the Texans winning this one as well.

Week 4: Texans vs Jaguars

With the Texans continuing their rivalry with the Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence last season, this matchup should also be a good game for people to watch. I still think that the Texans outmatch the Jaguars, though, as they are better in almost every category when comparing the teams. Not only do the Texans have the better quarterback, they now have an edge with their receiver core, something that was up for the grabs between the two teams. Overall, I have the Texans also winning this one.

Conclusion

I may seem biased as a Texans fan, but I do truthfully think that the Texans have a better team than their first four matchups. I do think that towards the mid-end of the season, there will definitely be some questionable matchups, but for now, I think that the Texans will start out 4-0 and have great momentum to ride into the rest of the season.
